Survival, evasion, resistance and escape instructors with the 308th Rescue Squadron along with aircrew flight equipment specialists with the 920th Operations Support Squadron conducted a two-day SERE training session for 18 aircrew members Nov. 5-6.

The Reserve Citizen Airmen, with the 39th and 301st Rescue Squadrons, spent the first day in the classroom, followed by hands-on training in the wilderness of the Malabar Annex, Patrick Air Force Base, Florida. Instructors demonstrated how to build a fire, create shelter, navigate through the woods, and evade the enemy before dividing the group into four smaller groups and putting their skills to the test in an exercise.

Aircrew members have to undergo a SERE refresher course every three years. The 920th Rescue Wing offers the course two to three times a year.
