Helping Haiti’s Children
A two-pronged mission over a weekend in December not only helped to keep 315th Airlift Wing aircrews current on all their certifications, but also delivered three badly-needed buses to schools in Haiti. Reserve Citizen Airmen of Joint Base Charleston’s 317th Airlift Squadron, with support from three additional Citizen Airmen of the 514th Air Mobility Wing from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, transported the school buses in a C-17 aircraft from Charleston to Port-au-Prince, where they were offloaded at Toussaint Louverture International Airport, Dec. 16.
Total Force medical team transports Sailor home
When a 34-year-old Navy sailor suffered multiple traumatic injuries during a mission in Syria, a Total Force team of medical professionals and Mobility Airmen sprung into action, intent on saving the life of a fellow service member. The sailor suffered injuries while performing improvised explosive device clearing operations. The severity of his injuries reduced his survival rate to two percent, requiring urgent transport from Syria to Texas.
Deployed Reserve Civil engineers make critical runway repairs
Maintaining an airfield is never an easy task, especially when it’s one of the busiest in the U.S. Air Forces Central Command area of responsibility. Responsible for making critical runway repairs, the 386th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron’s heavy equipment operator team ensures that the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing’s airfield is operational and ready for all takeoffs and landings in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
