One of three school buses is offloaded in Haiti from a Joint Base Charleston C-17 aircraft, which transported it as humanitarian cargo that was donated to a Port-au-Prince outreach school, December 16, 2017.

Aircrew from the 315 AW's 317th Airlift Squadron with support from JB McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst's 514th Air Mobility Wing flew the buses as part of the Denton program, which allows for space available on military aircraft to be used for humanitarian cargo.

A two-pronged mission over a weekend in December not only helped to keep 315th Airlift Wing aircrews current on all their certifications, but also delivered three badly-needed buses to schools in Haiti. Reserve Citizen Airmen of Joint Base Charleston’s 317th Airlift Squadron, with support from three additional Citizen Airmen of the 514th Air Mobility Wing from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, transported the school buses in a C-17 aircraft from Charleston to Port-au-Prince, where they were offloaded at Toussaint Louverture International Airport, Dec. 16.

When a 34-year-old Navy sailor suffered multiple traumatic injuries during a mission in Syria, a Total Force team of medical professionals and Mobility Airmen sprung into action, intent on saving the life of a fellow service member. The sailor suffered injuries while performing improvised explosive device clearing operations. The severity of his injuries reduced his survival rate to two percent, requiring urgent transport from Syria to Texas.
