  • 701 AS Reservists make history in U.K.

    Citizen Airmen from the 701st Airlift Squadron set the bar high by flying the first C-17 low-level pass through the “Mach Loop” and captured another win for their static display at the Yeovilton International Air Day at Royal Naval Air Station, U.K. Friday and Saturday. This was the third year for the Reservists to attend the air show and it provided them an opportunity to train several pilots and crew on the task of flying their C-17 Globemaster III aircraft at low altitudes in what is known as the Mach-Loop. The Mach-Loop derives its namesake from the town that is situated at the circuit’s southernmost point, Machynlleth, Wales.
  • Charleston Reservist earns spot at World triathlon championships

    Maj. Jamie Turner’s passion is flying jets, both in as a Reservist in the 317th Airlift Squadron flying C-17 Globemaster IIs, and as a FedEx pilot as a civilian. But there is something else she is equally passionate about –competing in triathlons. Turner was among the six athletes selected to represent the United States at the 19th Annual CISM World Military Championship August 2017 in Warendorf, Germany. The competition, sponsored by the Conseil International du Sports Militaire, is held every four years, in the spirit of the Olympics.
  • Carolina skies turn grey during large formation exercise

    Aircrews from the 315th and 437th Airlift Wings took off the morning of May 25, from Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina, in 18 C-17 Globemaster IIIs as part of a large formation exercise over Carolina skies. Exercise Bonny Jack was a joint service exercise with about 1,600 paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

    The 4th Combat Camera Squadron was officially reactivated today in the Yonkie Auditorium at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina, under the 315th Airlift Wing, and Maj. Hamilton Underwood assumed the helm of the specialized Reserve unit.

The Reservists provided air refueling support to U.S. and coalition forces operating in U.S. Central Command's area of responsibility for Operation Inherent Resolve from Dec. 13, 2016, to Feb. 16.
