  • New chapter for the 911th Airlift Wing

    The 911th Airlift Wing is undergoing an aircraft conversion switching from the C-130 Hercules to a much a larger cargo aircraft in the C-17 Globemaster III. As of this week, three out of the eight C-17s assigned to the 911th Airlift Wing will be stationed at the Pittsburgh International Airport Air Reserve Station, Pennsylvania. The rest of the aircraft are to arrive over the next few months.

  • SG increasing lethality at Wings

    The Surgeon General’s Office of the Air Force Reserve Command here is revitalizing the medical waiver adjudication process from the top down. They recently tested a new process where wing commanders have the authority to allow members to continue serving, in a full or limited range, while his or her waiver is being adjudicated at headquarters. The commander will review the member’s records and make the decision in conjunction with a local medical provider’s recommendation.

    Air Force Safety Center released a mobile version of the Airman Safety App enabling Airmen at installations Air Force wide to voluntarily report safety issues with their devices as they encounter them.
