  • 916th Air Refueling Wing Welcomes KC-46A Pegasus

    The 916th Air Refueling Wing accepted its first of twelve KC-46A Pegasus aircraft on June 12, 2020 in a small ceremony marking the occasion. The Chief of Air Force Reserve, Lt. Gen. Richard W. Scobee, and his Senior Enlisted Advisor, Chief Master Sgt. Timothy C. White Jr., served as delivery officials and were on board the aircraft as it arrived.
  • History in the making: Defeating COVID-19 with care

    On Aug. 1, 1948, the 301st Station Medical Group was activated at Smoky Hill Air Force Base, Kan., beginning a long history of Air Force service. The unit has been an important part of Air Force lineage in Texas since it was assigned to the 301st Tactical Fighter Wing on July 1, 1976 at what was then known as Carswell AFB. It would eventually be re-designated the 301st Medical Squadron on Oct. 17, 2008. Throughout the years the squadron has ensured members are ready to serve their country, no matter where or when. This includes a world-wide pandemic.
  • 433rd AW mobilizes medics for COVID-19 response

    In less than 36 hours, nine medics from the 433rd Airlift Wing and an Individual Mobilization Augmentee from the 59th Medical Wing here mobilized and deployed to New York City on a C-5M Super Galaxy April 5, 2020, to respond to the COVID-19 crisis.

  • Raincross Aircrew Excellence Award won by 315 Airlift Wing

    A Charleston C-17 Globemaster III aircrew won the 4th Air Force Aircrew Excellence Award, Nov. 19, for actions during a mission from Panama to the country of Curacao, located in the Lesser Antilles, earlier in the year. The award recognized the contributions of aircrew members, under the call sign REACH 111, Lt. Col. Jeffrey Smith, 315th Operations Group pilot, Lt. Col. Ryan Fleming, 300th Airlift Squadron pilot, Senior Master Sgt. Joshua Fugle, 701 AS loadmaster, Master Sgt. Candido Higuera, 701 AS loadmaster, Staff Sgt. Bryan Kelsey, 315th Contingency Response Flight loadmaster, Senior Airman Preston Kovarsky, 701 AS loadmaster and Staff Sgt. Lauren May, 437th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron.
  • Teaching the next generation

    Before they “hit the ground running” at basic military training, future members of the 931st Air Refueling Wing often get a test run at the Development and Training Flight. The program, which was founded at McConnell more than seven years ago, is a Reserve program which helps prepare future Airmen for BMT and assists them with making the transition from civilian to military life.
