My name is Wendy Day. I am the unit training manager with 4th Combat Camera at Joint Base Charleston. About two years ago our career fields for photojournalism and broadcast journalism combined. With the consolidation training we were given specific taskers. So, our broadcast people are learning how to take photos and write stories. While they are doing that, our photojournalists are learning to make videos. Our photographers are learning how to do video and in that they are learning how to edit; they are learning how to import, export, color correct; how to use their cameras to do video. They are learning how to do b-roll, how to do stringers, they are learning how to do everything to do with video production. Our video people are learning how to be photographers. They are learning how to take photos, they are learning how to write stories, caption. The whole gamut of what is expected. So in the end of our consolidation training, we will have fully functional military correspondents that can do the full gamut of photo to video - out in the field. More
