Just before Thanksgiving, Maj. Jeffrey DellaVolpe, an Individual Mobilization Augmentee, led an international medical evacuation mission that saved the life of a wounded Navy EOD technician. DellaVolpe is assigned to a one-of-a-kind life-saving medical team at SAMMC and is one of less than a handful of military doctors fully qualified to perform a life-saving therapy known as extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, ECMO for short.
