A flight for life: Citizen Airman Jason Pureza’s mission to Midway

Capt. Jason Pureza, a member of the 624th Aeromedical Staging Squadron, Critical Care Air Transport Team, while in his civilian capacity, responds to a medical emergency while in a HC-130J on Nov. 16, 2024. The CCATT is a specialized unit trained to provide advanced in-flight medical care for critically ill or injured patients during aeromedical evacuations. Pureza’s civilian experience as a night on-call critical care nurse practitioner and his military skills help prepare him to handle emergencies independently.
