Hurricane Hunters fly Idalia

2nd Lt. Mark McCoy and Capt. James K. Carpenter, 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron aerial reconnaissance weather officers, check the weather data during a flight into Hurricane Idalia. The Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunters, continued to collect data during a mission today into Hurricane Idalia as it made landfall in Florida. The Hurricane Hunters gather weather data and send that information back to the National Hurricane Center to be used for improvement in updating the forecast models of storm tracks.
