Airmen and Soldiers tour Richard Childress Racing facility
Airmen and Soldiers from Pope Army Airfield and Fort Bragg toured the Richard Childress Racing pavilion located in Welcome, N.C., 11 Aug. During the tour the RCR pit crew demonstrated how to fuel, adjust and change four tires on a race car in under 13 seconds. After a few demonstrations the service members tried their hand at lifting and replacing a 75 LB tire, using a jack to lift the car and removing lug nuts as fast as possible. The overall consensus from the service members is it is much more difficult than it looks. The event ended with a group photo of the service members and the pit crew team who were dressed in black.
