Reserve C-130s called in to fight California wildfires

Two Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System configured C-130s from the Air Force Reserve's 302nd Airlift Wing, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo., are being dispatched to California to help fight wildfires there. Swift Response 2015 was the largest combined airborne training on the continent since the end of the Cold War. The exercise included more than 4,800 participants from 11 NATO nations including Bulgaria, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain the United Kingdom and the United States. Staff Sgt. Leland Hastings, 919th Special Operations Security Forces Squadron, controls the Raven-B, a four-by-four foot unmanned aerial system, via remote control at Camp Guernsey, Wyo., Aug. 4. The 919th SOSFS brought the UAS to demonstrate its capabilities to other security forces units involved in a large field training exercise at the camp. The Raven-B has the ability to take photos, video in day or night, and even designate locations via an IR laser.
