Opening pitch
Sean Romero waits to throw the first pitch of the Florida Marlins 2009 Major League Baseball season in front of 33,000 fans April 6, 2009, at Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla. Sean is the son of Senior Master Sgt. Tony Romero, NCO in charge of life support for Air Force Reserve Command's 93rd Fighter Squadron at Homestead Air Reserve Base, Fla. Sergeant Romero is deployed to Joint Base Balad, Iraq., where he was filmed giving a "shout out" to Marlins' fans and asking his son to help him with the opening pitch for the Marlins' pre-game tribute to the military. The Marlins' director of game presentation proposed the idea of having the son or daughter of a deployed reservist throw out the first pitch after Homestead's 482nd Fighter Wing coordinated the opening day F-16 flyover with the Marlins' organization.
