NEW ORLEANS -- A U.S. Air Force Reserve C-130 Hercules from the 910th Airlift Wing at Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio, sprays Dibrom, a pesticide approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, over the city Sept. 13, 2005 following Hurricane Katrina. The 910th AW deployed to Barksdale Air Force Base, La., Sept. 17, 2008, to perform spray missions over various parts of the state following Hurricane Ike, which ravaged parts of Texas and Louisiana. Crews will target are primarily mosquitoes and filth flies, which are capable of transmitting diseases such as Malaria, West Nile virus, and various types of Encephalitis.
