A B-52 Stratofortress from the 93rd Bomb Squadron at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., takes off on a mission in this file photo. In the wake of Hurricane Ike, regular and reserve aircrews and aircraft from Barksdale were engaged to fly humanitarian missions as search-and-rescue platforms using advanced, forward-looking infrared and visible light video recording equipment. Both missions collected more than 700 images of oil platforms, oil tankers and the shoreline infrastructures along the Texas coast between Galveston and Houston. (U.S. Air Force file photo/Tech. Sgt Jeff Walston)
