Hugs, teary eyed smiles at 913th AW inactivation ceremony
Col. Giordano "Jody" McMullen, 913th Airlift Wing commander, furls the wing flag prior to relinquishing it to 22nd Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. Martin M. Mazick, during the Sept. 30, 2007 inactivation ceremony. Holding the flag is 913th AW Command Chief Master Sgt. Clifford Van Yahres. The 913th AW was inactivated as part of an Air Force Reserve Command 2007 Programmatic Budget Directive action. The ceremony was a somber moment for the 150 remaining members of the wing on hand for the retirement, inactivation and retreat ceremonies. When the flag was lowered for the last time, members hugged and with teary eyed smiles, said their goodbyes. (U.S. Air Force photo by Phil Rhodes)
