Air Force Reserve A-10s dominate ground forces in Afghanistan.
June 2006 – Air Force Reserve A-10 crews from the 303rd Fighter Squadron, Whiteman Air Force Base, Miss., participated in Operation Mountain Thrust, the largest anti-insurgent operation in Afghanistan since October 2001. Here, Air Force Reserve maintenance personnel deployed at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan, inspect an A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft assigned to the 23rd Wing on the flight line after a mission in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
