Aircraft Restoration

JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- Airman 1st Class Steven Smith, 305th Maintenance Squadron, repairs part of the exterior body of a C-118 Liftmaster in an aircraft maintenance hangar here March 4, 2011. Liftmasters were the first cargo airplanes stationed here and helped the base to define its role as an air mobility gateway. The C-118 is being restored by active-duty Airmen, Reserve Airmen and civilians in an effort to return the aircraft to its position as a static display on the traffic circle near the passenger terminal here.
