Samuel King Jr. from the 919th Special Operations Wing Public Affairs Office at Duke Field, Fla., was named the top military photographer in Air Force Reserve Command in an announcement March 2, 2013. Among King’s portfolio was this lead photo from his winning picture story. In the photo, Lt. Col. Jeff Gates helps his 11-year-old son, Nathaniel, through the first water obstacle May 19, 2012, in the Emerald Coast Mud Run for Orphans in Niceville, Fla.
