Nearly 50 years after serving as a reservist in the 512th Troop Carrier Wing Medium, Richard Staley still carries his dog tags on his key ring. Dog tags from his service era, 1954 - 1962, included servicemembers' Air Force service number and the year of their last tetanus shot. Air Force service numbers began with a two-digit geographical recruiting code followed by a six-digit personal identifier. (U.S. Air Force photo/Master Sgt. Veronica Aceveda)
