Reserve Recruiters reach goal for 16th straight year

Air Force Reserve Command Recruiting Service has met the command’s accession goal for the 16th consecutive year.

Lt. Gen. Maryanne Miller, AFRC commander, sent a congratulatory message to recruiters praising them for meeting their fiscal year 2016 goal.

“You and your team are amazing!” Miller said. “The leadership, collaboration, willpower and dedication by our recruiters, all wings, NAFs and the command enabled these efforts to make us the incredible force that we are for this nation.”

For FY16, Reserve recruiters not only reached their goal but surpassed it, ending the year with 8,562 accessions equating to 100.7 percent of the goal.

“In a year where we faced many obstacles and challenges, our recruiters really stood up to the challenge and have once again proven they are absolutely the best in the Department of Defense,” said Col. Christopher Nick, commander AFRC Recruiting Service. “We were tasked to grow end-strength by 2,100 personnel and we not only met it, but we exceeded it. That was the biggest challenge.”

One of the other challenges Recruiting Service faced was reaching the goal of 8,500 with a relatively inexperienced recruiting force. Sixty percent of the line recruiters have less than two years’ experience, thirty percent of the in-service recruiters have less than a year, and 42 percent of the flight chiefs have less than a year, according to officials.

“The recruiters worked hard and the superintendents led their squadrons to reach this goal,” said Chief Master Sgt. Thomas Zwelling, AFRC Recruiting Service superintendent. “The recruiters continue to amaze me.”

Zwelling said recruiters couldn’t have achieved this goal without the support and leadership from Miller and (Ret) Lt. Gen. James F. Jackson, the former commander of AFRC.
