Branning Dedication

Air Force Reserve Command honored a headquarters legend Friday by dedicating a conference room in his honor.

Retired Lt. Col. Craig Branning worked for 20 years as a military member and civil service employee in the Directorate of Strategic Plans, Programs and Requirements as chief of the strategic basing and total force branch. He passed away four years ago in his office. The conference room where he frequently worked was dedicated to his legacy.

“Craig was a real lynchpin here at AFRC, especially in A5/A8,” said Maj. Gen. Richard S. Haddad, AFRC vice commander. “Without him, AFRC would arguably not be where it is today. He was a problem-solver and a finisher. He pressed through to find the best possible solution to often impossible problems. But the impossible didn’t seem impossible. … if you were on his team.”

Dan Rhoades, who Branning mentored and now holds his old position, said Branning was a true leader who always took care of his folks and put them first.

The A5A8 conference room, now the Branning Conference Room, will carry on his name, and he will be memorialized by a plaque outside the door.
