The 512th Airlift Wing assumed control of reservists' physical fitness assessment here, during the Unit Training Assemblies, beginning November 7.

This is the first time the Liberty Wing has conducted their own testing since 2009, when each unit evaluated their own members.

"The goal is to reduce the amount of time required for members to participate in fitness testing," said Maj. Chris Radziewicz, 512th Memorial Affairs Squadron commander. "This allows the very precious and equally limited time during UTAs to be more effectively used."

The time used for the assessments went from more than two hours with, to little over an hour with the new program, according to Radziewicz.

The first 36 reservists ran through the PT assessment the morning of November 7, with the number of Airmen totaling over 210 by the end of the weekend.

"Another great part of our program is our ability to minimize the 'hurry up and wait' concept by prepositioning personnel at each phase of the test," said Radziewicz. "My airmen were able to formulate the idea, construct a concept and plan behind the scenes into a successful first weekend."
