And she’s off! On Oct. 18, 2015, the flag ship of the 489th Bomb Group takes off on her first flight after the reactivation of the Bomb Group from Dyess Air Force Base in Texas. U.S. Air Force Reserve Col. Denis Heinz, commander of the 489th Bomb Group (right), salutes the maintenance team of the 489th flag ship, a B-1 Lancer. The first flight for the 489th was on Oct. 18, 2015 from Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. After 70 years of inactivation, the 489th BG reactivated as a Reserve unit the day before the flight.
