Citizen Airmen win in Air Force Media Contest

Airmen assigned to two Air Force Reserve Command public affairs offices took first-place awards in the 2014 Air Force Media Contest.

Tech. Sgt. Jasmin Taylor of the 919th Special Operations Wing, Duke Field, Florida, was named the Outstanding New Writer and the Outstanding New Photographer. The “On-final” from the 507th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs Office, Tinker AFB, Oklahoma, won the Web-based Publication category.

Contributors to the “On-final” are Maj. Jon Quinlan, Senior Airman Mark Hybers, Staff Sgt. Charles Taylor, Staff Sgt. Lauren Gleason, Staff Sgt. Caleb Wanzer.

Two other reservists placed in the Air Force contest.

Tech. Sgt. Mark Orders-Woempner, 434th ARW, Grissom Air Reserve Base, Indiana, placed second in the Graphics Layout & Design category. Capt. Bernie Kale, 512th Airlift Wing Public Affairs, Dover AFB, Delaware, finished third in the News Photography category.

Results of the Air Force contest were announced March 13 by Brig. Gen. Kathleen A. Cook, director of Air Force Public Affairs.

Taylor and the “On-final” will represent the Air Force in the Department of Defense’s Thomas Jefferson competition. Results of the DOD contest are expected to be announced April 17.
