The 440th Airlift Wing financial services office here received the Fiscal Year 2014 Air Reserve Command Financial Service Office of the Year Award for outstanding service.

The office was noted for having zero discrepancies for reserve pay, civilian pay and the Defense Travel System, ensuring voucher submissions were submitted correctly, saving $15,000, and completing 3,000 - 5,000 pay transactions monthly with orders processed in under two days.

"The unit's accomplishments exemplify the highest standards of dedication and excellence," said Lt. Gen. James F. Jackson, Air Force Reserve Command commander. "Its members embody the core values of the Air Force and serve as an example of professionalism, leadership, and commitment in our reserve community."

Brig. Gen. James Scanlan, 440th AW commander, presented the award and addressed the financial service team for their achievement during the Jan. 26 staff meeting. "The volume that our finance office can handle and the systems you work with - you guys do an extraordinary job," said Scanlan.

Marvin Ruth, 440 AW financial services officer, was proud the office received the award.

"With many recent changes, including the implementation of the Defense Travel System, and Automated Time and Attendance Production System, it is certainly an honor to be selected Financial Services Office of the Year," said Ruth.
