NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. -- Two Military Training Instructor recruiters from the 433rd Training Squadron,
Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, visited Jan. 10, to make a pitch for
instructor duty.
Tech. Sergeants Katie L. Badowski and Gregory A. Gresham
spoke about the reserve military training instructor duty and interacted with
the base's Development and Training Flight.
"We're recruiting for our
unit," said Badowski. "The majority of the Air Force doesn't know that
(Reservist MTI Duty) even exists, but we've been an entity of Basic Military
Training for over 30 years."
Ideal candidates are a Tech. Sgt. or Master
Sgt. however, in special instances, rank reqirements can be waived. Prospective
applicants must be in good physical condition and have no history of failures.
Additionally, applicants must provide Enlisted Performance Reports and letters
of reccomendation from their chain of command.
"We have postions for Air
Reserve Technicians, Active Guard Reservists and Traditional Reservists within
the 433rd TRS, the reserve component assigned to BMT," said Gresham. "From there
our instructors are farmed out to the various squadrons throughout
BMT."
The MTIs also took the opportunity to interact with the NFARS
Development and Training Flight, trainees who have enlisted in the Air Force
Reserve but have not yet attended BMT. Badowski and Gresham gave the trainees a
first-hand preview of what they will experience at Basic Training.
"I
love it," said Gresham. "The job is phenomenal. To be able to do what we do,
and have the impact that we do on the trainees, as well as, the impact on the
Air Force, Air National Guard and (Air Force) Reserve is
outstanding."
