Matthew Burke 914th Airlift Wing Public Affairs NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. -- Two Military Training Instructor recruiters from the 433rd Training Squadron, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, visited Jan. 10, to make a pitch for instructor duty. Tech. Sergeants Katie L. Badowski and Gregory A. Gresham spoke about the reserve military training instructor duty and interacted with the base's Development and Training Flight. "We're recruiting for our unit," said Badowski. "The majority of the Air Force doesn't know that (Reservist MTI Duty) even exists, but we've been an entity of Basic Military Training for over 30 years." Ideal candidates are a Tech. Sgt. or Master Sgt. however, in special instances, rank reqirements can be waived. Prospective applicants must be in good physical condition and have no history of failures. Additionally, applicants must provide Enlisted Performance Reports and letters of reccomendation from their chain of command. "We have postions for Air Reserve Technicians, Active Guard Reservists and Traditional Reservists within the 433rd TRS, the reserve component assigned to BMT," said Gresham. "From there our instructors are farmed out to the various squadrons throughout BMT." The MTIs also took the opportunity to interact with the NFARS Development and Training Flight, trainees who have enlisted in the Air Force Reserve but have not yet attended BMT. Badowski and Gresham gave the trainees a first-hand preview of what they will experience at Basic Training. "I love it," said Gresham. "The job is phenomenal. To be able to do what we do, and have the impact that we do on the trainees, as well as, the impact on the Air Force, Air National Guard and (Air Force) Reserve is outstanding."
