The event recognizes and celebrates the "best of the best" in technical and weapons system expertise in the bomber, missile and security forces areas. The 93rd Bomb Squadron took home both the LeMay Trophy for Best Bomb Squadron and the Linebacker Trophy for Best B-52 Squadron. The 343rd Bomb Squadron was awarded the Mitchell Trophy for Best Bomb. The Global Strike Challenge is the world's premier bomber, Intercontinental Ballistic Missile, helicopter operations and security forces competition with units from the Air Force Global Strike Command, Air Combat Command, Air Force Reserve Command and Air National Guard. "It was a great night for the 307th Bomb Wing," said Col. Jonathan Ellis, 307th BW commander. "The competition pitted aircrew from 22 operational squadrons, 6 wings and all 3 bomber platforms in a competition across the spectrum of bomber operations." "This is a testament to the exceptional talent, professionalism and dedication of the men and women in the entire wing," said Ellis. "The aircrew can't fly an airplane if the maintainers don't get it ready, and everything we do every day stems from the foundations in the support groups. This is truly a wing win."
