JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. --
In testament to their unique agility and specialized expertise, Airmen from the Air Force Reserve’s 42nd Intelligence Squadron (IS), 718th IS and 63rd IS of the 755th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Group recently provided all-source and targeting intelligence directly impacting time sensitive operations in the Middle East.
Nested within the Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS) and Targeting Enterprises, ISR Reserve Airmen showcased the indispensable value of the Air Force Reserve in today’s rapidly changing global environment. Whether called to duty through activation or volunteering, Reserve Airmen from the 718th IS and 63rd IS supporting DCGS, and from the 42nd IS supporting Targeting, quickly integrated into ongoing operations, demonstrating the effectiveness of the Air Force Force Generation (AFFORGEN) model.
Their immediate impact was significant. In one instance, Airmen uncovered a critical vulnerability in a high-priority facility, directly shaping how military commanders approached a target, enabling precision planning and execution. Additionally, the unit provided crucial technical targeting support for Operation MIDNIGHT HAMMER, delivering expert analysis, enabling effective mission planning, and ensuring target execution at scale and speed.
The 755th ISR Group is one of two ISR groups assigned to the 655th ISR Wing headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, under Tenth Air Force. As Air Force Reserve Command’s only ISR Wing, the 655th ISRW acts as a critical force multiplier, working hand-in-hand with Active Duty Air Force squadrons through the Classic Associate Unit Model. This Total Force Integration (TFI) allows Reserve Airmen to seamlessly integrate into active-duty operations, bringing their diverse skills and civilian-acquired expertise to the joint fight.
The 755th ISR Group provides a wide spectrum of intelligence disciplines through seven squadrons across four states, conducting three distinct missions: DCGS, Targeting, and Special Operations ISR. They specialize in analyzing information from advanced systems, pinpointing targets, and supporting special operations. Their unique structure enables global operations from their home stations, quickly connecting to vital missions.
With nearly eight years of expertise in mobilizing tactically and technically qualified Airmen to support critical mission sets, the 755th ISR Group has a proven track record of enabling key decisions for Air Components and broader military commands. Their specialized knowledge has led to significant efficiencies, including proactive collaboration efforts to test and evaluate new tools that modernize and accelerate intelligence and targeting processes.
This innovative work directly enables Air Force operations, contributing to the rapid development of tradecraft and tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) to accelerate the Find, Fix, Track, Target, Engage, and Assess (F2T2EA) targeting process through automation. This ultimately leads to more effective operations and significant cost savings to the Air Force. Their contributions underscore the vital role of the Air Force Reserve in maintaining a ready and responsive force for the nation.
