OpsNet named Air Force best practice

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. --  A team of Air Force reservists from here and Randolph AFB, Texas, received recognition again for their online information system.

The OpsNet team was one of six teams named an Air Force Best Practice in the 2005 Air Force Chief of Staff Team Excellence Award competition Oct. 13. Members of the team are from Randolph’s 340th Flying Training Group and Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command’s directorate of communications and information at Robins.

Unit reservists in the 340th FTG and its geographically separated squadrons access the OpsNet information system through the Internet. They can manage participation, budgets, productivity and billeting arrangements. Also, the system allows the unit to keep tabs on reservists’ participation and readiness.

The OpsNet team accepted a Department of Defense Chief Information Officer team excellence award during a Pentagon ceremony Sept. 29.

The Air Force award competition recognizes outstanding team performance, promotes systematic process improvement and serves as a means to share best practices. The program saves the Air Force millions of dollars each year.
