Band of the Air Force Reserve to perform Independence Day celebration July 1

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. --  The Band of the U.S. Air Force Reserve will perform at the 22nd annual Independence Day Celebration July 1 at the McConnell-Talbert Stadium on South Davis Drive in Warner Robins. The free concert will also feature Warner Robins native Bobbie Eakes, an accomplished soap opera star and recording artist, for a night of music, fireworks and family fun.

The stadium will open to the public at 6 p.m. Festivities will begin at 7:15 with the Houston County Honor Band, comprised of select musicians from the county’s four high schools. Mary Therese of WMAZ-TV 13 will host the main stage show starting at 8.

The stadium bleachers offer plenty of seating; however, attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating in the infield. Food and beverages will be available at concession stands. Bags and containers are subject to search since alcoholic beverages are prohibited at this family event.

“This may be the best Independence Day observance in the state,” said Allen Tatman of the Warner Robins Civitan Club. “Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, and the talent of the Band of the U.S. Air Force Reserve, we have a tremendous celebration, featuring special guest artists and a fireworks display that gets bigger and better every year. Bring the kids, and enjoy a great show.”

Mr. Tatman encourages people to watch the show from inside the stadium as the fireworks are set to music, which “makes the spectacular display that much more stirring and enjoyable to watch.”

Ms. Eakes is a graduate of Warner Robins High School and a former Miss Georgia. Currently, She hosts the “Top 20 Country Countdown” for the Great American Country cable TV network and stars in ABC TV’s “All My Children” as Krystal Carey.

She has also starred on “The Bold and the Beautiful” and had an international hit, “Tired of Loving This Way,” with country music superstar Collin Raye. Her debut solo CD “Something Beautiful” was released in May. Sharing the stage with her will be classmate and friend, Sebie Lacy of Stillwater.
