Members of the 340th Flying Training Group’s OpsNet team will represent Air Force Reserve Command in the annual Air Force Chief of Staff Team Excellence Award competition in September.

Maj. Gen. David E. Tanzi, AFRC vice commander, congratulated the group April 29 on the team winning the command award and qualifying to advance to the Air Force level.

OpsNet is a Web-based system for providing information to reservists in the 340th FTG at Randolph AFB, Texas, as well as its geographically separated squadrons around the United States.

Lt. Col. Vincent Mancuso led the team while assigned to the 340th FTG operations division. He now works in the Headquarters AFRC Communications and Information Directorate at Robins AFB.

Other members of the team are Lt. Col. James Murphy, 340th FTG; Maj. T. Edward Cavanaugh, 96th Flying Training Squadron, Laughlin AFB, Texas; Maj Scott Grizzard, 43rd FTS, Columbus AFB, Miss.; and Greg Giedd, Headquarters AFRC/SC Web Support Branch.

Team excellence awards recognize outstanding team performance and promote systematic process improvement. And, the awards serve as a means to share best practices, and promote mission improvement and cost savings throughout the Air Force. The program saves the Air Force millions of dollars each year.

Two years ago the C-5 torque deck repair team from AFRC’s 433rd Airlift Wing, Lackland AFB, Texas, won an Air Force team excellence award.
