Newsletter wins award, advances to DOD contest

Air Force Reserve Command public affairs people took one first-place award and two thirds in the 2005 Air Force Media Contest.

The Midnight Express won the newsletter format category. The 919th Special Operations Wing publication from Duke Field, Fla., will compete against other Department of Defense newsletters in the annual Thomas Jefferson competition.

First Lt. Marnee Losurdo placed third in the writing series category. At the time, she worked in the Duke Field public affairs office, and her stories appeared in the Midnight Express. She is now chief of public affairs for the 512th Airlift Wing, Dover AFB, Del.

The Gulf Wing from the 403rd Wing at Keesler AFB, Miss., came in third in the magazine format category.

The contest took place in San Antonio, Texas, and the results came out March 13.

DOD will announce the outcome of its contest in late April or early May. (AFRC News Service)
