19 compete for outstanding airmen, first sergeant honors

Nineteen bluesuiters from around the nation are vying for one of four spots in the 2005 Air Force Reserve Command Outstanding Airman/First Sergeant of the Year competition.

They will learn April 20 who will represent the command at the Air Force level. Command officials will announce the winners of the airman, NCO, senior NCO and first sergeant competitions during an awards banquet in the Robins AFB Museum of Aviation’s Century of Flight hangar. Guest speaker for the ceremony is Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Gerald R. Murray.

The nominees in the command competition by category are:

Airman: Staff Sgt. Jonathan R. Brewster, Air Reserve Personnel Center, Denver; Senior Airman Dominica P. McCoy, 45th Security Forces Squadron, Patrick AFB, Fla.; Senior Airman Eric J. Pena, 349th SFS, Travis AFB, Calif.; Senior Airman Kris A. Winder, 701st Combat Operations Squadron, March Air Reserve Base, Calif.; and Staff Sgt. Isaiah P. Lechowit, 302nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Peterson AFB, Colo.

NCO: Tech. Sgt. Elizabeth R. Robinson, 97th Intelligence Squadron, Offutt AFB, Neb.; Tech. Sgt. Michael C. Melton, 349th Civil Engineer Squadron, Travis AFB, Calif.; Staff Sgt. Conrad A. Dawes, 8th Space Warning Squadron, Buckley AFB, Colo.; Tech. Sgt. Jorge L. Talamantes Jr., 302nd Logistics Readiness Squadron, Peterson AFB; and Tech. Sgt. Latrivia D. Gilbert, Headquarters AFRC, Robins AFB.

Senior NCO: Master Sgt. Thomas A. Puccio, 6th SFS, MacDill AFB, Fla.; Master Sgt. Chris L. Rumley, 446th CES, McChord AFB, Wash.; Master Sgt. Dean W. Larson III, 442nd CES, Whiteman AFB, Mo.; Chief Master Sgt. Michael J. Schmiege, 315th CES, Charleston AFB, S.C.; and Master Sgt. Renee L. Williams, Headquarters AFRC, Robins AFB.

First sergeant: Senior Master Sgt. Amy M. Cook, ARPC, Denver; Senior Master Sgt. Kathleen R. Buckner, 452nd Maintenance Operation Squadron, March ARB; Master Sgt. John C. McClain, 917th Mission Support Flight, Barksdale AFB, La.; and Chief Master Sgt. Suzy R.T. Florian, 512th AMXS, Dover AFB, Del.

The nominees represent the command’s three numbered air forces, the command headquarters, the Readiness Management Group or ARPC.
