Lt. Col. Michael E. Michno at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, and Master Sgt. Thomas A. Puccio at MacDill AFB, Fla., competed against 31 officers and 16 other enlisted airmen to earn the distinction of the year’s outstanding IMAs. Colonel Michno, an avid runner who uses free time to coach hockey, currently serves as the program manager for the MQ-1 Predator A, Predator Systems Squadron at Wright-Patterson. In charge of directing the $1.5 billion Predator program - the nation’s premier remotely piloted aircraft - Colonel Michno is the first Reserve officer ever selected to serve in this position. Sergeant Puccio, 6th Security Forces Squadron operations superintendent at MacDill, also holds the position of NCO in charge of the Marine Patrol Section and Phoenix Raven – specially trained security forces personnel who provide security for aircraft transiting high terrorist and criminal threat areas. Arriving at MacDill just before 9/11 attacks, Sergeant Puccio assists the active-duty operations superintendent with day-to-day flight operations consisting of 360 Guard, Reserve and active-duty Airmen.
