Command announces 2006 Team Excellence award winners

  • Published

Members of the Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command Communications Directorate here and the 729th Airlift Squadron at March Air Reserve Base, Calif., are winners of AFRC’s Team Excellence awards.

“These awards reflect the best in the Air Force Reserve, and I congratulate both teams for outstanding performance and dedication in earning the honor of this award,” wrote Maj. Gen. Allan R. Poulin, AFRC vice commander, in announcing the winners May 12. “Competition this year was tough, and I applaud all candidates for team performance, enhancing mission capability, improving operational performance, and maximizing efficiencies.”

The communications directorate earned recognition for harnessing net-centric technologies to streamline Reserve participation and readiness management processes. The “ReserveNet” team of Citizen Airmen, and Air Force civilian and contract employees was the first in AFRC to field an Air Force Portal-integrated system.
Citizen airmen at select locations use ReserveNet tools to manage their participation and readiness via secure access to the Internet. This team, led by Lt. Col. Vincent Mancuso, is one of AFRC’s first designated Air Force Smart Operations 21 “lean” initiatives.

The 729th AS tactics integration team created a training environment for converting aircrews to the C-17 and an “in-house” tactical training process that enabled the squadron to reach mission capable status a full 10 months ahead of schedule. The team was led by Lt. Col. Tim Harris.

Both teams will represent AFRC at the annual Air Force Chief of Staff Team Excellence Award competition scheduled for September 2006. (AFRC News Service)
