3 selected to attend Air Force Academy’s Teen Aviation Camp Published May 31, 2006 ROBINS AIR FORCE Base, Ga. -- Three teen-agers with roots in Air Force Reserve Command are among 36 teens selected across the Air Force to attend the Air Force Academy’s Teen Aviation Camp, Colorado Springs, Colo., June 3-9. Trevor Perreault is the son of Robert Perreault, an Air Force retiree, and Master Sgt. Elaine Perreault. Both parents work at Westover Air Reserve Base, Mass., in the 439th Mission Support Squadron. Elio Mendolia is the son of Antonino Mendolia and Maj. Colleen Kelley of the 439th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, Westover ARB. Monica Bray is the daughter of Maj. Dean Bray and Mary Beth Bray. Major Bray is an Air Force admissions officer in Denver. The camp is open to high school sophomores and juniors who are interested in attending the Air Force Academy or making the Air Force a career. Mr. Perreault is home schooled and maintains a 3.5 GPA. He is a member of the Massachusetts Civil Air Patrol, where he serves as a first sergeant, senior honor guard representative and color guard team leader. He is listed in the Who’s Who Among American High School Students and was invited to take part in “The Presidential Classroom Scholarship for Excellence in Academics and Leadership” in Washington, D.C. Mr. Perreault plans to attend the Air Force Academy and pursue a military career. Mr. Mendolia attends a religious school where he maintains a 3.8 GPA and has earned the high honors award, religion award and president’s academic achievement award. He participates in soccer, basketball, snowboarding and band. Mr. Mendolia is the assistant senior patrol leader in his Boy Scout troop. He plans to study computer science or engineering in college and become a fighter pilot in the Air Force. Ms. Bray attends a military school where she maintains a 3.75 GPA and serves as platoon administrator in the Navy Junior ROTC. In school, she participates in volleyball, cheerleading, track, math league and solar sprint. Ms. Bray has been awarded the Girl Scout Silver award and the Girl Scout Silver Leadership award. She serves in her community through the Girl Scout Aid, Delaware State Park and Adopt-A-Highway programs. She plans to attend the Air Force Academy and become an Air Force pilot. The Teen Aviation Camp gives teens the opportunity to experience a slice of Air Force life. It is designed for youths who are interested in attending the Air Force Academy or making the Air Force a career. The week-long camp features a variety of activities, including orienteering, participating in a ropes-challenge course, experiencing a T-37 flight simulator and touring the Air Force Academy.
