F-16 crashes in Florida Straits Published March 12, 2007 HOMESTEAD AIR RESERVE BASE, Fla. -- An Air Force Reserve Command F-16 fighter jet crashed about 11:05 a.m. March 12 approximately 75 miles south-southeast of Homestead ARB in the Florida Straits. The aircraft was from the 93rd Fighter Squadron. At the time of the accident, it was flying a routine training mission. One pilot was on board and ejected safely. The pilot was successfully rescued. A board of officers will investigate the accident.
