The Dover AFB All-Stars sent the McGuire AFB, N.J., All-Stars packing 9-4, in the first-ever ice hockey fund-raiser in Philadelphia, Jan.13.

The event drew about 300 spectators and raised $1,500 for the Combined Federal Campaign.

Dover's total force hockey team consisted of players from the active-duty 436th and Air Force Reserve 512th Airlift Wings and included a civilian contractor as well.

Michael Ramos, one of the offensive wings for McGuire, worked hand-in-hand with Dover's Nicholas Koskivacirca to organize the inaugural wing challenge.

"The money we raised surpassed what we thought we'd end up with," said Ramos. "We're happy with the outcome."

"This hockey game is really all about helping someone else, the camaradarie and having fun doing it all. We have plans to make this an annual competition," said Koskivacirca.

For now, the traveling trophy rests in the hands of Team Dover, waiting for another face-off against McGuire.
