Assistant secretary of defense sends birthday greetings

T.F. Hall, assistance secretary of defense for reserve affairs, sent a letter of congratulations April 14 to Lt. Gen. John A. Bradley, chief of Air Force Reserve.

"I'd like to extend my congratulations to all Citizen-Airmen on this the 60th birthday of the United States Air Force Reserve," wrote Mr. Hall. "Since 1948 the Air Force Reserve has continued to meet the needs of our nation, truly earning the name: the 'unrivaled wingman.'

"The Citizen-Airmen of the Air Force Reserve have served with distinction through the years at locations which span the globe; from South America, to Southeast Asia and the Middle East. They have served during the Berlin Airlift, the Cuban Missile Crisis, Desert Shield and Desert Storm to Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. The Air Force Reserve is a fully operational and integrated force and our Citizen-Airmen volunteer and serve daily with unmatched dedication and professionalism.
