Space aggressor helps community Published June 9, 2009 ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- An imagery analyst with the 26th Space Aggressor Squadron at Schriever AFB, Colo., is Air Force Reserve Command's nominee for the 2009 American Legion Spirit of Service Award. Staff Sgt. Katherine Githens contributed her time, service and money to 25 worthy causes in her community during 2008. She served as the regional director of a national food bank campaign to raise 75,000 pounds of food for the needy. Sergeant Githens also led a Thanksgiving food drive for 41 families and donated 25 hours to care for children in her church. Each year the American Legion recognizes an enlisted member, E-5 and below, from each service for his or her volunteer service to the community. The winners will receive their awards at the 2009 American Legion National Convention in Louisville, Ky., Aug. 21-27. (Air Force Reserve Command News Service)
