5 compete for DOD fire, emergency services awards Published Aug. 12, 2010 ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga -- Three firefighters and two organizations are representing Air Force Reserve Command in the Department of Defense Fire and Emergency Services Award competition. The command nominees are: Fire officer - Alvin L. Sims, 482nd Mission Support Group Fire Department, Homestead Air Reserve Base, Fla. Firefighter - Edward H. Reed, 482nd MSG/CEF, Homestead ARB Military fire officer - Senior Master Sgt. Bradley D. Tippets, 419th Civil Engineer Squadron CEF, Hill AFB, Utah Fire department (medium category) - 94th MSG/CEF, Dobbins ARB, Ga. Fire prevention program - 439th MSG/CEF, Westover ARB, Mass. According to command fire and emergency services officials, the FES community is on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week, putting their lives on the line while "Protecting Those Who Defend America."Each year the command recognizes outstanding accomplishments and honors fire departments, fire fighters, and heroes through the annual DOD Fire and Emergency Services Awards Program. The award winners will be announced at the DOD Fire Emergency Training Conference during the Air Force Reserve Command Fire Emergency Services Awards presentation Aug. 26 in Chicago. USAF.
