315th Airlift Wing inspires youth of Africa Published Sept. 29, 2010 By 2nd Lt. Joe Simms 315th Airlift Wing Public Affairs CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Reservists from the 317th Airlift Squadron, Charleston Air Force Base, S.C., gave tours of a C-17 Globemaster III to children who participated in the Africa Aerospace and Defense Youth Development Program in Cape Town, South Africa Sept. 21-25. The program is designed to introduce students to positions available in South Africa's aviation and defense industries and opportunities to further their education. The Youth Development Program brought students out during the first three days of the air expo. During their adventure, they were able to tour the C-17, ask question, and hear from experts in aviation and technology from members of the Air Force Reserve.
