Knight named Medical Services Enlisted Mobilization Augmentee of the Year

Master Sgt. Samantha Knight was chosen as the Air Force Reserve Command Medical Services Enlisted Mobilization Augmentee of the Year Award for 2011. Colonel Brian Masterson, Command Surgeon at Headquarters, AFRC, presented the award at the Medical Awards Luncheon hosted by the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States convention in San Antonio, Texas.

Knight is a is an Individual Mobile Augmentee who is currently working at HQ AFRC, as a Health Services Administration Instructor for the STARS Program, as well as deployments and retirements for all medical IMAs. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Multi-Disciplinary Studies in Health and Business in 2010 and is working on her Master of Science Degree in Health Care Management at Columbia Southern University.

Knight enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1999 and transferred to the Air Force in June 2000. She served as an Air Reserve Technician at the 927th Air Refueling Wing, Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., as a medical administration assistant and NCOIC of both the orderly room and medical records room. She entered the IMA program in 2005.

Knight won this award for her selfless dedication through critical manning shortages. Her civilian credentials as a nationally certified emergency medical technician made her the subject matter expert and instructor for the STARS EMT refresher course. She stretched her many talents well outside her career field in an optimistic attitude that her peers emulated. Her volunteer service to troubled teens exemplifies the many ways she selflessly serves her community and her country.
