The CY12 Air Force Reserve Command Screening Board is scheduled to convene at the Air Reserve Personnel Center April 10.

The RCSB will nominate eligibles for consideration for wing commander, vice wing commander, operations group commander, space wing commander, space operations group commander, maintenance group commander and support group commander positions. Final approval authority for placement of officers into these positions remains with the commander and/or AFRC vice commander.

"This year, Air Force Reserve Command is introducing a modified process for considering officers interested in command opportunities," said Col. Lisa Yacoub, director, Selection Board Secretariat at ARPC. "In the past, eligible officers were vetted by senior leaders to compete for command billets. I am excited about this new process because it truly gives Reserve members the opportunity to be more involved in their career."

This new process requires each officer to "opt in" if he/she wants to meet this year's board. Eligible officers will receive a letter from HQ ARPC and will be screened by the board to vector them to their future assignment, Yacoub said.

The basic eligibility criteria is as follows: colonel, colonel select and "filtered" lieutenant colonels; Air Reserve Technicians, Individual Mobilization Augmentees, Traditional Reservists, Active Guard Reserve or assigned to the Participating Individual Ready Reserve, mandatory separation date of April 10, 2014 or later; and commander experience desired; position specific eligibility criteria.

All eligible officers will receive a memo advising them of their eligibility and will be required to submit an application letter (to opt in) if they wish to be considered. Application letters must be received by ARPC/DPBB not later than March 1. Letters can be submitted via email to arpc.dpbb@arpc.denver.af.mil or by mail to ARPC/DPBB, 18420 E. Silver Creek Ave MS68, Bldg 390, Buckley AFB, Colo., 80011.

Eligible officers are responsible to ensure the accuracy of their record prior to the board convene date. At a minimum, they should review their pre-selection briefs using the instructions below. The OPB is the sole source document for what will appear on the officer selection brief seen by the promotion board.

"Once the application letter is received by ARPC/DPBB, an officer pre-selection brief will be sent directly to the eligible officer," said Mr. Billy Carroll, who is the Headquarters AFRC Chief of Senior Leader Management Division. "Officers should use the pre-selection brief review instruction sheet when reviewing their OPB. If they identify any problem with data, they must contact the office listed to resolve the discrepancy."

Questions concerning the eligibility for this board can be directed to HQ AFRC/A1L, DSN 497-1219 or 478-327-1219 or DSN 497-0333 or 478-327-0333. Questions concerning pre-selection briefs or milestones can be directed to HQ ARPC/DPBB, DSN 847-3209 or 720-847-3209.
