For the first time, the 433rd Airlift Wing's newest Airmen are getting a boost before basic military training with the creation of delayed enlistment training flights.

The program, which launched on Sept. 8, will assist  26 future Airmen with adjusting to military life prior to their assignment to BMT. Easily recognizable in their black tee shirts and blue jeans, they were assembled at the Cargo Loading Facility before being led to a meeting with the wing commander and to get their first military identification card.  Tech Sgt. David B. Gaffney, 433rd Military Training Leader is preparing them for the rigors of BMT before they depart.

The trainees paid close attention to Gaffney as he demonstrated the position of attention for them. He told them he would call the room to attention as the commander of the 433rd Airlift Wing, Col. Jeffrey T. Pennington, entered the room. The trainees performed flawlessly as the commander and Command Chief Master Sgt. Emil Garza entered the room.

"I am so proud of your commitment to join the Air Force,"  Pennington said. "This (DTF) is a good opportunity."
