Hill fighter wings host fifth-gen summit Published March 28, 2018 419th Fighter Wing Public Affairs HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- About 30 senior leaders from fifth-generation F-22 and F-35 units across the Air Force will converge here for a summit hosted by the 388th and 419th Fighter Wings, March 27-29. During the event, the group will tour key F-35 facilities and discuss challenges and benchmarks within the fifth-gen community. “Ultimately, the goal is that we learn from each other and work collectively to forge the Air Force's fifth-gen airpower legacy,” said Col. David Smith, 419 FW commander. Hill's fighter wings received the F-35A in September 2015 and will be home to three fighter squadrons with a total of 78 aircraft by the end of 2019. The active duty 388th FW and Citizen Airmen from the Air Force Reserve's 419th FW fly and maintain the jets in a Total Force partnership, which capitalizes on the strength of both components.
