AFRC announces Logistics Readiness awards

Air Force Reserve Command announced the winners of the 2016 Logistics Readiness unit and individual awards and finalists for the American Petroleum Institute Golden Derrick Award.

Brig. Gen. John A. Hickok, AFRC deputy director of Logistics, Engineering and Force Protection, made the announcements Jan. 26.

The unit awards recognizes squadrons, depot units and any other Major Command organizations that have excelled in performance and made outstanding contributions to the Air Force and or the Department of Defense logistics readiness mission. This year's winners:

Daedalian Maj. Gen. Warren R. Carter Logistics Effectiveness Award – 927th Logistics Readiness Squadron, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.

Logistics Readiness Squadron of the Year (Non-Flying Unit): 944th LRS, Luke Air Force Base, Arizona.

Air Reserve Component Base Logistics Activity of the Year: 919th LRS, Duke Field, Florida.

ARC Air Transportation Activity of the Year: 38th Aerial Port Squadron, Joint Base Charleston South Carolina.

The AFRC American Petroleum Institute Golden Derrick recognizes the unit that has excelled in performance, effectively utilized resources to obtain training to meet assigned unit type code requirements and provided outstanding mission support.

This year's finalists are the 315th LRS, JB Charleston; 419th LRS, Hill Air Force Base, Utah; and 433rd LRS, Joint Base san Antonio-Lackland, Texas.

The individual awards recognizes individuals who excelled in performance and made outstanding contributions to the AF or DoD logistics readiness mission. This year's winners:

Outstanding Logistics Readiness Airman of the Year: Senior Airman Christopher J. Ott, 35th Aerial Port Squadron, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey.

Outstanding Logistics Readiness NCO of the Year: Staff Sgt. Khadeem L. Jonas, 35th APS, JB McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

Outstanding Logistics Readiness Senior NCO of the Year: Master Sgt. Brian M. Henderson, 315th LRS, JB Charleston.

Outstanding Logistics Company Grade Officer of the Year: Capt. Octavia R. Nelson, 69th Aerial Port Squadron, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland.

Outstanding Logistics Readiness Field Grade Officer of the Year: Maj. Tracy L. Maestas, 759th Logistics Readiness Flight, JB Andrews.

Outstanding Logistics Readiness Civilian Category I of the Year: Scotty E. Fogle, 934th LRS, Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Air Reserve Station, Minnesota.

Outstanding Logistics Readiness Civilian Category II of the Year: Christopher S. Scott, 32nd Aerial Port Squadron, Pittsburgh IAP ARS, Pennsylvania.

Outstanding Logistics Readiness Staff Enlisted of the Year: Chief Master Sgt. Jerome Lewis, 10th Air Force A4R, Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas.
