August issue of Citizen Airman is online

The August issue of Citizen Airman magazine now available online. The cover story highlights the historic change of command ceremony involving Lt. Gen. Maryanne Miller, the first female Air Force Reserve Command commander and chief of Air Force Reserve.

The issue also spotlights the induction of the former AFRC commander, retired Lt. Gen. James F. Jackson, into the AFRC Order of the Sword.

In addition, the magazine includes stories on a book written by a Reserve chief master sergeant that was selected for inclusion on the Air Force chief of staff reading list; the second in a three-part series on a World War II B-17 pilot who is an uncle to a Reservist at Pope Army Airfield, North Carolina; a Minnesota Reservist who is passionate about his music and his job in security forces; the first individual Reservist to be assigned to the 694th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconaissance Group at Osan Air Base, Korea; a team that developed a modeling tool that compares Reserve and active-duty manpower costs; Religious Support Teams who look out for the well-being of one another while also providing care to fellow caregivers; an immigrant from Mexico who witnessed the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York and now serves his new city and country; and three generations of a family who are dedicated to the KC-135 Stratotanker and its mission.
