Employers from Western New York witnessed the Air Force mission at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware, Sept. 24-25, as part of a boss lift sponsored by the 914th Airlift Wing and the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

Thirty-one employers flew aboard an Air Force Reserve C-130 from Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station for the two-day event. These trips are designed to help foster good relations between Guardsmen, Reservists and their civilian employers by allowing bosses to see the mission of Citizen Airmen first-hand.

Employers visited the Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operation at Dover, toured a C-5 Galaxy, a C-17 Globemaster III, the Air Mobility Command Museum and saw demonstrations by 436th Security Forces Squadron Ravens and the 436th Aerial Port Squadron.

"Each detail of the trip was thoughtfully and professionally handled," said Maurice L. Naylon III, ESGR area chair. "This event was a wonderful way to showcase to business leaders the vital role that the Guard and Reserve play in the overall success of the military and we were extremely pleased with every aspect of the trip."

"Seeing the sacred mission of the Air Force Mortuary Affairs, Ravens and C-5 was just amazing," said Jonathan Moscato of Programmable Equipment Company LLC. "I appreciate the incredible hospitality provided by the 914th, and I will do my best to support the base and all those serving."

ESGR is a Defense Department office promoting cooperation and understanding between civilian employers and their National Guard and Reserve employees. Established in 1972, ESGR develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the Reserve Components through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws and resolves employer conflicts between the service members and their employers.
